Product description
The QOOL Temperature Elements are more than just classic ice packs. They work with specially formulated phase-change material that not only stores cold, but releases it in a controlled and uniform manner. As a result, they cool significantly more consistently and for longer than conventional ice packs.
The Temperature Elements ensure reliable cooling. They reach their full potential when combined with the QOOL Box: Tailored precisely to the interior, they allow for a constant cooling performance of up to 10 days, depending on the configuration. A few high-performance elements replace many small ice packs and ensure a uniform temperature throughout the entire interior.
Size
The QOOL Box M is operated with a set consisting of 4 elements of size M:
4 elements measuring 16cm × 4cm × 21cm
The QOOL Box L is operated with a set of 6 elements:
4 elements measuring 25.5cm × 2cm × 35.5cm and 2 elements measuring 35.5cm × 2cm × 35.5cm
Do you already have a QOOL Box?
The Temperature Elements are precisely matched to its insulation and only achieve the full cooling duration of up to 10 days when used inside it. They will still cool without a QOOL Box, but for a significantly shorter time.

Frequently Asked Questions about the QOOL Cooler
How many ice packs do I need for my cooler?
For the QOOL Box M, we recommend 4 Temperature Elements to achieve a constant temperature for up to 10 days.
For short trips of 3 to 5 days, 2 elements are often sufficient. This allows you to specifically purchase the cooling elements that suit your usage.
How are the temperature elements correctly pre-cooled?
Please freeze the Temperature Elements in a freezer/chest freezer at a temperature of at least -18 °C. Remove the Temperature Elements from the freezer/chest freezer. The inside of the elements should now be solid. The Temperature Elements are immediately ready for use and can be used with the QOOL Box.
The following pre-cooling time is required depending on the temperature range:
Frozen (-20 °C to -10 °C): at least 72 hours
Cool (-2 °C to +2 °C): at least 12 hours
Fresh (+2 °C to +8 °C): at least 8 hours
Why don't the temperature elements freeze?
Our Temperature Elements are 100% tested. If they do not freeze, it is often due to the temperature in the freezer – for Frozen Elements, we recommend at least –18 °C. Tests have shown that many household freezers are sometimes only set to –16 °C or warmer, even if they feel colder.
In addition, the elements should ideally have enough space so that the cold air can circulate well around them. If they are packed too tightly, the pre-cooling time increases. It is best to place the elements in the bottom, coldest compartment of the freezer. This ensures they freeze through reliably!
Do the temperature elements also work without the QOOL Box?
Yes, the Temperature Elements also work in other cooler bags or boxes. They reliably maintain your desired temperature range there, though for a significantly shorter time than in the QOOL Box. The long retention time of up to 10 days is created by the interaction between the phase-change material and the high-tech insulation of the QOOL Box. Without this insulation, the stored cold is lost more quickly, usually within a few hours to a day, depending on the ambient temperature and the insulation of your bag or box.
How do I optimally position the temperature elements in the QOOL Box?
- For the QOOL Box M, which can cool for up to 10 days without power, we recommend the maximum configuration with 4 temperature elements of the same size (1 liter). Place one element upright on each side of the handles and place the other two elements on top of the food. The two upper elements have the greatest effect, as cold air sinks downwards and thus flows through all the chilled goods. If you are only traveling for 3-5 days, 2 of the 4 temperature elements are sufficient. These can then be conveniently placed at the side, but for optimal cooling, they should be placed on top of the chilled goods.
- For the QOOL Box L, which can cool for up to 10 days without power, a surround system (cooling cube) with 6 temperature elements is ideal. There are 2 different element parts: 2 square elements (for the bottom and lid) and 4 side elements. Place one of the large elements on the bottom of the box. Then insert the 4 side elements with the straight side facing the respective wall. Finally, simply place the lid on top. Here too, not all elements are necessary for 3-5 days.
Does the QOOL cooler also work with standard ice packs or ice cubes?
In combination with our Temperature Elements, the QOOL cooler allows for the precise setting of specific temperature ranges, such as a refrigerator range of +2 °C to +8 °C or a freezer range of -20°C to -10 °C. We can maintain these temperature ranges constantly for up to 10 days.
Compared to conventional ice packs, which are often filled with water, our Temperature Elements offer improved performance. Standard ice packs release a temperature of approximately 0 °C when thawing, which is already too cold for some applications and foods. Our Temperature Elements, however, are able to maintain the required temperatures, thus enabling longer cooling of up to 10 days without electricity. Depending on the needs and requirements for the cooler, other ice packs can also be used in the box.
The situation is similar with ice cubes, as they also consist of water and are around 0 °C when thawing. Since the QOOL Box was specifically designed for use with Temperature Elements, it does not have an outlet for meltwater. Therefore, if ice cubes are used for cooling, we recommend using a bag or a similar container to collect the meltwater.
How can I achieve a 10-day cooling duration?
To achieve the maximum temperature retention time of 10 days in the QOOL Box, optimal conditions should be established. It is advisable to fill the box similarly to a refrigerator by keeping it as full as possible with chilled products. Ideally, the products should be placed into the box already pre-cooled. Although the box can also cool down contents, doing so will shorten the operating time. Depending on usage, the Temperature Elements should be recharged or frozen again after about 10 days.
Can I also use the QOOL Box without temperature elements?
In principle, the QOOL Box can also be used without Temperature Elements. If the QOOL Box is filled with chilled drinks or food, the items will remain at temperature for 1–2 days. If a specific temperature range (fridge or freezer) is required, we would recommend our Temperature Elements. In addition, the Temperature Elements extend the cooling duration to between one week and 10 days.
